Soil & Soil Amendments

Mushroom Compost

Mushroom compost can supply nutrients and increase the water-holding capacity of the soil in lawns, gardens, and container plants. Mushroom compost is a type of slow-release, organic plant fertilizer. Our compost is made by mushroom growers using organic materials such as straw, sawdust, and horse manure.

Used with care, mushroom compost also can be used as a mulch around perennials, trees and shrubs. For flower beds and vegetable gardens, till about three inches of the compost into the top six inches of fairly dry garden soil.

Manure Compost

Animal manure is rich in nutrients that make it a great organic fertilizer for your garden. All animal manures are good sources of nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and other nutrients that plants need to thrive. Our manure compost is made by farmers using organic materials such as straw, sawdust, hay, and cow manure. Spread composted manure in your garden in small amounts, about one-fourth to one-half inches deep. Thicker applications up to 1 inch deep might be justified in poor soil with low organic matter.
